PYOP Experience: Pick your own Pumpkin

PYOP Experience: Pick your own Pumpkin

In preparation for Halloween, I enlisted the help of a friend in exploring some alternative ways to enjoy Halloween. I’ve purchased the Lush Cosmetics Halloween range to review, and I’m extremely excited to give it a try, we’ve also booked tickets for Fear Fest-Evil on Sunday the 22nd of October, we’re planning a Pumpkin carving night in with a few friends but before that we needed to first get some Pumpkins to carve and decided to try a PYOP (Pick your own Pumpkin) experience. After a little help from Google, we picked  Hendrewennol Farm.

We got up at 8am to get ready for a 9am start and an hour drive to Cardiff arrive for 10am. I’d spoken to Hendrewennol on their Facebook page to check availability for Pumpkins as they had been particularly busy the week before selling out of all their Pumpkins so Tip #1 would be to check with the Farm your visiting for availability.

Once we arrived we headed into the hut and up to the Pumpkin field, it was pretty busy considering the place had just opened and it was just turning 10:02am, that leads me to Tip #2 which is arrive early to get the best Pumpkins!

We picked four pumpkins, paid for them and put them in the car before heading out for a walk around the fields to get some fresh air.

This is such a cute idea, perfect for families or couples, you get out in the fresh air whilst supporting a small business and spending some quality time with your chosen company. It’s also a pretty low-cost experience, entry was free and we paid between £2 and £3 per Pumpkin, which is a pretty good price considering Tesco were charging pretty much the same.

This looks so cute, I’ve never been pumpkin picking but I would love to go! I thought it would be really expensive but £2-£3 per pumpkin isn’t bad! Xx

It’s definitely an extra way to celebrate Halloween and you can do it in the run-up.

I’ve never been pumpkin picking, would love to though as looks great 🙂 I’m disappointed as my pumpkins this year went mouldy within a couple of days from the shop.

      Hey Charl!
Damn that’s annoying, I hope you got another one to carve instead! It’s definitely a great low cost day out.
